About

Sam Patel is a globally experienced stem cell biologist specializing in precision and regenerative medicine, with a focus on translating advanced cellular engineering techniques into practical solutions. Over the course of his career, he has led preclinical drug discovery programs, developed disease models, and pioneered innovative approaches in personalized medicine using tools such as CRISPR/Cas9, iPSC technology, and optogenetics.
Sam has worked across world-class institutions and biotech companies, including Toronto, Heidelberg, Leuven, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, amassing a wealth of expertise in diverse research environments. At UCLA, he spearheaded research into neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, creating 3D organoid models integrated with astrocytes and microglia to study neuron-glial interactions. His time at Prolific Machines saw him leveraging cutting-edge bioreactor technology to develop scalable systems for biologics production and cell-based therapies.
Driven by a passion for impactful science, Sam is now dedicated to applying his experience toward solving complex challenges in policy-making, public health, and translational biotechnology. With a unique blend of scientific acumen, leadership experience, and a commitment to innovation, he strives to bridge the gap between research and real-world applications.
Outside the lab, Sam is an avid foodie exploring global cuisines and enjoys storytelling through writing, both of which reflect his curiosity and creative spirit.
